DIY: Super Silent Fidget Spinner Silent Wheel

There are alternatives if you could not afford or you don't know where to purchase hamster wheel. This DIY variant makes use of the Fidget spinner that are now getting more affordable in the toy market. A great advantage of using Fidget spinner is that they are:
1. Silent (depends on the kind of spinner purchased)
2. Incredibly fast because of the bearings. They are so sensitive.
3. They are durable, specially those standard sized spinners
4. Cheap, it cost around 40-60php for standard sizes and 15-30 for the mini spinners.

The vehicle for the hamster wheel will be anything from circular toilet basket, pencil holder, round plastic bucket. Suggested size will be 4-6 inch for dwarfs and 6-10 inch for the Syrians.

This setup is for dwarf hamster. I will be using a 15php pencil holder and a 20php mini spinner.

1. I trim the surface are since its a little bit too deep, I suggest it would be 2.5 inch to 3 inch deep.
2. I prepared the spinner and drill a 1/8 or 1/16 hole on each sides. (You can also use soldering iron)

This is the most tricky part. It is crucial that you get to place the fidget spinner in the center of the bottom of the pencil holder(or whatever material you are using.
You can also drill a whole in the center and use epoxy or glue if you don't have a drill.

This is an optional part if you are planing to use rivets. Using nuts and bolt, you can add a couple of nut to add spacing.

You can directly drill it to the bin or use a stand.

Here is version 2 with the rivet head outside. This is much cleaner make.

Finish product. My Roborovski hamster loved it so much!

  1. Make your wheel a little larger so the hamsters can run with their back straight. Because the wheel is a little bit too small, their butt goes up and stops the wheel. This is an excellent design. Your hamsters are cute!!! Thanks for sharing :)
