Practical Hamster Food

First thing in mind in taking care of hamsters is FOOD! But which is which? This guide will help you decide what to feed your pet. Specialized hamster food from pet shops are okay if budget is a problem, then we go the alternative. Although these food are not made intentionally to be used for our pet, Its content and nutritional value is well suited and even better (to some point) than imported prepacked hamster food.

In this table are some pellet alternatives you can use. Always remember that you should also supplement this with a little amount of sunflower seed or seed mix like 7 Kinds or Slasher Mix. In my opinion, its a waste of money if you buy seed mixes with very solid corn since the suggested pellets already have corn as their primary ingredient.

Here is MY BASIC mix (all kinds of hamster )
1 kg Integra 3000
100 grams Sunflower seeds

Much more specific mix would involve ( for dwarfs )
1kg Integra 3000
1/4 kg bird seed ( millet and/or mixed seeds )
1/4 kg sunflower seed

Much more complex mix would involve ( for syrians )
1kg Integra 3000
1/4 kg jockey
1/4 kg 7 kinds

By the way.. If you want to ask, where to buy this? There are a lot of reputable Agri-vet supply that sells them. For a much more reliable store, I always buy in Pacifica Agrivet which had a lot of branches nationwide and they sell sunflower seeds at 60php per kilo.
